The USA Men’s National Team 7s defeated Guyana 62-0 for blistering start to the Pan American Games in Lima 2019. It was the opening match of Pool A, leading into the Opening Ceremonies tonight, after which the USA men will return tomorrow for two games against Chile and Brazil. Medal rounds will commence on Sunday, July 28.
“It was a great team performance there and a little bit of individual brilliance as well on the pitch but there’s a lot of takeaways,” said Head Coach JD Stephenson. “Unfortunately, the first match for some was a little bit tougher. For us an easier match presents different opportunities but there’s still things we can take away from and grow and develop on. We are excited for the challenges tomorrow, we’ve got Chile and Brazil who just had a 14 all draw so it’s going to be a very interesting day for us.”

Harley Wheeler, Jake Lachina and D’Montae Noble all added tries in their first appearance of a senior national team tournament.
