Successful USA Women's Under 23s XV Development Camp in Chula Vista

The USA Women's Under 23s wrapped up their XV Camp at the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista, CA, bringing together a talented group of young rugby players for an intensive development experience last week. 

Athletes invited to this camp were identified through the Pathway scouting process which included performance tracking throughout the competitive season via film analysis, in-person visits, and various talent identification events. Standout players from the recent U23 All-Stars tournament in Boston earned invitations.

The primary goals of the camp were centered on elevating the athletes' game with key focuses on increasing the speed of play, pushing participants to execute skills and strategies at a higher tempo. Coaches also aimed to instill a deliberate focus on honing the small details in both core and position-specific skills, while reinforcing doing the fundamental basics well. 

Head coach, Orlando Pulou commented,

“From start to finish we saw players process a lot of information within a short time frame, and actively worked together bot in the classroom and on the pitch to help each other.  Seeing players showcase a positive competition mindset was a huge highlight for the camp and we are excited to see this group progress.”

The XVs camp ran concurrently with the Pathway U23 Sevens camp bringing together nearly 60 eager athletes, fostering a collective spirit of learning and development as they advanced in their respective rugby journeys. The collective pool between the two camps provided a comprehensive platform for growth in a collaborative and competitive environment.
