The USA Men’s Eagles will return to the rugby pitch this summer with a three-match tour of Europe in August. Competing against Romania, Portugal and Georgia, Interim Head Coach and General Manager, Scott Lawrence will lead the team for a first time since taking over in January.
This tour will be Lawrence’s test match debut as Head Coach and start to a four-year build up into the Rugby World Cup 2027 qualification journey. The selected player pool is projected to come following the Major League Rugby season, with the traveling roster set to assemble in North Carolina before heading off overseas. Broadcast and live stream information will be communicated when confirmed.
USA Men’s Eagles Head Coach and General Manager, Scott Lawrence noted, “This tour represents the first small sprint of a race toward Rugby World Cup 2027 qualification. With that, our goal for this tour is to put the very best players playing the very best rugby our country can produce, while providing developmental experiences for players on the rise.”

Ahead of the summer, Lawrence and staff will also host a culture and alignment camp in April, with a small group of current players and USA Eagle alumni also in attendance. The small spring assembly will take a deep dive into the team ethos and player ambitions over the next few years, with mentorship and support offered by the veteran former players.
Lawrence added, “The staff has a real focus on listening and learning from our current and former Eagles, on not only what the ideal Eagle looks like but what an ideal Eagles team that makes our country proud feels like. The alignment camp came about from understanding that we need to build on our past, but not replicate it. We’ll grow by building mentor relationships between Eagles of the past and a group of current and future leaders from the wider playing squad, tasked with defining the standards and actions that give us the very best chance of Americas 1 qualification for 2027.
“When you’re going for a moonshot, a one degree error in the beginning navigation misses the mark by thousands of miles at the end. This is about setting the best possible course we can now and putting in the processes that allow us to course correct along the way.”
