The USA Men’s Sevens Falcons clinched the plate after a strong showing at the RugbyTown 7s tournament at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado.
As a premier show ground for sevens rugby, the men’s Falcons brought together some of the top developing sevens talent in the country. Known for its competitive and high paced fixtures, RugbyTown 7s hosted 21 international, regional select, and military teams across five pools over the course of 3 days of action.
Placed in Pool D, the Falcons opened against regional Denver 7s Selects, Tsunami Rugby (USA/Canada), and the NCR All-Americans, where the USA went 2 for 2 on day one with quick-phase play and strong defence.
In a hard-fought opening match, the Falcons edged past local favorites Denver 7s Selects to seal the win 24-21 led by Captain Faitala.
In their second match, the Falcons powered through the National Collegiate Rugby All-Americans to secure a 40-14 win. Closing out pool play, the USA fell to Tsunami Rugby 31-14 after a hard fought contest.
Under RugbyTown 7s' updated format, the top two teams from Pools A–D advance into the high-stakes Cup Tier, seeing the Falcons go into contention for the Plate.
During knockout action, the Falcons faced steep competition from elite and international select sides, Casanovas, Assassins 7s, and NAV 7s. In the Quarterfinal, the Falcons fell to Cassanovas 33-35, before claiming their final 2 wins of the weekend. Taking on UK based Assassins, in the Plate Semi Final, the USA 38-7 with high-tempo match play.
The Falcons closed out their performance with a 14-12 win in the Plate Final over NAV 7s showcasing standout performances from Max Lehmann and Rand Santos to earn the Falcons their hardware finish.
The Falcons gained invaluable high-pressure experience as the coaching staff continue to develop rookie talent and curate a pathway for USA Eagles Sevens rosters.
