Originally a multi-sport athlete from Minnesota, Emerson Allen found rugby during a college fair while at Eckerd College. After joining the school's club and excelling as one of the premier Locks in college, Allen transferred to the D1 program at Life University in 2019 where she was also named a Collegiate All American.

The collegiate accolades lifted Emerson's profile to the USA Rugby High Performance level, which resulted in USA U23 selections in 2021 and 2022, followed by the USA Falcons tour of Brazil in 2022, and again in 2024.

That same year in 2024, Allen earned selection to the USA Women's Eagles tour of Japan where she made her international debut on August 11. In 2025, she continued to dedicate her time to rugby and earned selection to the Women's Rugby World Cup 2025 squad in England.
