Madison Ashby grew up in Penrith in Sydney’s west and initially played rugby league and touch football before being identified as a potential national team member when she was just 13.
Ashby made her Australian debut in 2018 as a teenager and went to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021 as a rising star of the sport.
The former McCarthy Catholic College student became a mainstay in the national squad, churning out 25 tournaments and ushered into the squad's leadership group at a young age.
She was on track for a second Olympics campaign in 2024 before an ACL injury in Singapore cruelly cut short that dream and her first tournament as captain.
Ashby made a return to the field during the 2025 pre-season, returning for the Next Gen series.
