A multi-sport athlete successful in football at Provo High School, Maka Unufe wasted no time making a name for himself when he transitioned to rugby. As a standout athlete for the Utah Warriors during the 2011 Club 7s National Championships, Unufe immediately fell onto the national team radar and earned a selection to the 2011 Pan American Games, helping USA clinch the Bronze.

The next year, Unufe made his first HSBC World Sevens Series appearance at the 2012 Wellington Sevens tournament where he cemented himself as a high-scoring machine on the pitch.

In 2015, Unufe helped the United States clinch another Bronze at the Pan American Games in Toronto. He added to his list of achievements in 2016 when he was selected to Team USA's 12 man roster for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
