Maya Stewart is a Nelson Bay product coming off a record-breaking 2024 season with the Waratahs and Wallaroos.

Stewart played several sports as a teenager including touch football, where she was an Australian representative, and a track star finishing third in the 100m national event at age 12.

She began her rugby career with the Nelson Bay Gropers before moving to the Hunter Wildfires.

Stewart was quickly identified by the NSW Waratahs but endured a difficult start to her Super Rugby Women's career with an ACL injury in 2021.

Stewart returned to the field and enjoyed a strong 2023 season despite a nasty concussion in New Zealand.

She broke the record for most tries in Wallaroos history, touching down in seven consecutive games to finish the 2024 season as player of the year.

Stewart's individual efforts earned high praise with her try against Wales in WXV 2 earning try of the year honours at World Rugby's awards night.

Stewart will chase a second World Cup appearance in 2025.
