Hawkins started playing rugby when she was 10 years old as her dad was an avid fan of the game and a local coach. After being named to the USA Rugby High School All Americans in 2014, Hawkins went on to play for rugby powerhouse Lindenwood University. She similarly came up through the USA Rugby pathway, playing for the U18s, U20s and U23s from 2014 onto her college graduation in 2019.

In college, Hawkins won multiple National Championships, including fifteens and sevens titles in 2017 and 2018, before making her way to the Women's Premier League and earning another with the Glendale Merlins in 2019.

Hawkins was honored as the recipient for the MA Sorenson Award in 2018, recognizing the best collegiate athlete in rugby. She debuted for the Women Eagles at The Rugby Weekend in November of 2018 at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL.
