Born and raised in East Palo Alto, Monalisa Tupou found rugby while scrolling through social media and decided to find a local club. At the age of 20, she ventured out for her first match with the East Palo Alto Lady Razorbacks which put her on the USA Rugby pathways radar and earned a U23 invite in 2022. Tupou competed with the California Grizzlies for the U23 All Star Championship curing the WPL Final in Chicago.
Tupou remained in the USA pathway up until the second leg of the 2023 World Rugby Pacific Four Series, when she was called up to the Women's Eagles camp in Ottawa and make her senior national team debut against Australia.
