Stephen Tomasin began playing rugby at 16 after growing up with it around his uncles and cousins who played. Also a baseball and American football player in high school, Tomasin earned League MVP honors in football before switching to rugby and becoming an All-American.

The 2013 Collegiate All-American in 7s and 15s traveled with the MCAAs (15s) for their 2013 New Zealand tour. Having grown into a standout rugby player, Tomasin made his debut that same year at the Gold Coast Sevens 2013 where he scored his first try in the Challenge Trophy Semifinals against Spain.

After building a successful career with the Men's Eagles Sevens, Tomasin tried his hand at fifteens with the Men's National Team where he earned his first official cap in 2016 against Russia.

Following his cap in 15s, Tomasin returned to the Sevens scene where he was named to the Dream Team at the Singapore Sevens 2017. The following year, he helped the USA finish sixth at Rugby World Cup Sevens 2018 -- their highest ever finish in the tournament.

Months later, he opened a new season with the Men's Sevens by winning back-to-back silver medals for the first time in history and contributing to the Eagles Sevens achieving a No. 1 ranking two stops into the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2019 season.

In 2021, Tomasin was named to the Tokyo Olympic squad and later served as Captain during the Rugby World Cup Sevens 2022 in Cape Town, South Africa.
