VANCOUVER, B.C. - The Golden Eagles, a dedicated philanthropic organization who contribute to the Men’s Eagles Sevens, have extended their support of the program with a jersey sponsorship for the HSBC Canada Sevens 2019.
Through the sponsorship, the Men’s Eagles Sevens will sport the classic Golden Eagles logo on the front of their jerseys as recognition of the group’s investment and continued partnership with the program.
Founded in the summer of 2012, the Golden Eagles are a passionate group of former rugby players who devote financial resources, guidance and mentorship to coaches and players of USA Rugby’s sevens program; in an effort to increase opportunities for athletes both on and off the pitch.
The jersey sponsorship at Canada Sevens serves as an extension of the Golden Eagles’ commitment to USA Rugby and its athletes.
“Over the past seven years, we have had a unique opportunity to get involved with the USA Rugby’s sevens program and contribute significant dollars to our current success. We are thrilled with the hard work of the team and coaching staff and the results they have achieved,” said Jon Bobbett, one of the founders of the Golden Eagles. “An opportunity presented itself to put our name on the jerseys and we used that to raise $75,000 for the men’s team in addition to our regular program giving. We are excited to be involved in supporting the team.”
As an organization, the Golden Eagles have contributed to the Sevens and other programs in a variety of ways including the launch of the Career Advancement Rugby Enhancement (CARE) initiative and the funding of team building trips to build homes for the underprivileged.
Through CARE, the organization has connected athletes with internship programs to help build their resumes and professional skills for career opportunities after rugby. Internships not only benefit players financially, but also serve as a resource to network and aid in the transition into the professional non-rugby world.
Through Homes of Hope, the Golden Eagles funded trips for the Women’s and Men’s Sevens players in the summer of 2018 to build homes in Baja, Mexico for two homeless families. The experience was an unparalleled opportunity for players to make an impact in the community and further their bonds with one another — something that very clearly translated onto the field of play.
The Golden Eagles have also stepped in to financially support training camps, developmental competitions, training kit and team outings in an effort to supplement the dynamic needs of USA Rugby’s sevens programs on their journey to represent Team USA at the Olympic Games.
Members of the Golden Eagles make an invaluable impact on both current and future USA Sevens players by funding opportunities across the spectrum for athletes to achieve their Olympic dreams. Being a Golden Eagle is both a highly respected and valuable contribution to growing American rugby and helping the Eagles Sevens win medals on the World Stage.
