The USA Women’s Eagles will travel to South Africa this July for a two-match tour facing the Springbok Women in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The summer series will kick off Saturday, July 4th at the historic Ellis Park, with the second match to be played Saturday, July 11th at Loftus Versfeld. These fixtures set up a competitive challenge for the Eagles to test new systems and personnel as they develop their style of play in this new Rugby World Cup cycle looking to build off their current 8th place ranking.
The last meeting between USA and South Africa took place in March 2024 in London, where the Eagles secured a 38-17 victory. However, this summer’s tour presents a fresh challenge against a South African side currently riding an all-time high world ranking of 10th following their quarter-final run at the 2025 Rugby World Cup.
This will be the first time the USA Women’s Eagles will compete on South African soil and will feature as part of exciting double-headers alongside the Men’s Springboks who will take on England and Scotland, respectively.
“Touring South Africa is a great opportunity for us to keep growing and developing against a Rugby World Cup quarter-final team,” said Tamara Sheppard, USA Eagles Women General Manager of High Performance.
“We’re excited to embrace the challenge to play in front of some of the most passionate rugby fans in the world, and it will be an incredible experience for this developing Eagles group.”
Following the Tour, USA Women’s Rugby presence in South Africa will extend with a developmental component, as the USA Women’s U20s travel to Cape Town for a two-match series against the Junior Springbok Women on July 18th and 25th.
This tiered Tour structure ensures that both current players and the next generation of Eagles gain valuable international experience in a professional and competitive environment.
