USA Rugby High Performance today confirmed two upcoming international tours for the Women’s U18s and U20s.

Both occurring in Wales as hosted by the Welsh Rugby Union, The Women’s U18s will gather for a pre-tour camp before departing for Cardiff, all in conjunction with the annual East Development Camp, graciously hosted by Mount Saint Mary’s University. The USA will join the U18 sides from Netherlands, Wales and Scotland on July 23 for a festival style competition with shortened matches through the day, culminating in a full USA vs Wales match on Saturday, July 27th. The final USA vs Wales fixture will be broadcast live on RugbyPass TV.

USA Women’s U18s Head Coach Susan Whitwell added on the first experience tour for these young prospects, “This opportunity provides a wealth of learning for the players. Representing your country in an international competition comes with pressure and learning to handle that pressure takes practice. The festival format allows us to experience a variety of game styles in a short period of time which helps develop game understanding and flexibility of thinking. This is a critical chance for our players to develop their ability to identify, adapt and respond quickly under pressure.”

As the programs rely heavily on the support of donors, USA Rugby certified National Development Program and supporter, Rhinos Rugby will excitingly Fuel the Future with a direct donation and match all public donations up to $15,000 through its global competition organization, Rugby Tens, , all in the lead up and through both U20 and U18 tours. The XV Foundation has again generously donated funds to bring both programs together for this elevated assembly across the USA Women’s High Performance Pathways. Live stream details are yet to be confirmed but will be shared on USA Rugby channels when known.

Attendees for the East Camp will be the Wales touring players with additional development camp attendees, spending six days under Camp Manager Stacy Mancuso in a full training environment before the traveling squad ships off for Wales on July 19. The U18s West Camp will take place July 2-7 on the campus of Western Oregon University, led by Camp Manager Heidi Whitman and inviting top prospects from the western regions of the country. These annual camps have been instrumental in cultivating the identified players and bringing new talent into the fold under USA Rugby coaching.
