During the holiday break, the USA Women’s Sevens program continue their next generation development with a six-day pathway camp inviting 19 pipeline players to the Elite Athlete Training Center in Chula Vista this week for daily development sessions and full scrimmages.

USA Women’s Pathways Head Coach Irene Gardner leads the way alongside the USA senior national team coaches and staff. With the LA2028 Olympic window now underway, the camp opens an opportunity for sevens prospects to put their hand up for senior national team residency in the future.

Gardner said on the assembly, “This is our first camp of this next cycle following the recent inclusion of several pathway players to the residency program. The goal is to identify players that will become part of our Sevens Pathway program and support their development ahead of senior residency opportunities. Players invited to this camp have an opportunity to be selected for future Pathway camps and competitions.

“We look forward to building our U18 and U23 Sevens programs, coming off of the recent Global Youth Sevens U18 competition in New Zealand and this camp in Chula Vista, brining all the positive momentum into the 2025 Talent Identification Tour starting in February.”
