US Women’s Rugby Foundation outfits the USA Women’s Eagles with formal wear as the team and USA Rugby send heartfelt thank you to all donors ahead of Rugby World Cup 2021

As the USA Women’s Eagles gather in Los Angeles for their final departure to New Zealand for Rugby World Cup 2021, USA Rugby is honored to send a sincere thank you to all donors and supporters who have contributed to the program during this important time.

In particular, the US Women’s Rugby Foundation (USWRF) who today announced a donation to the USA Women’s Eagles to outfit the team with formal wear and a batch of trading pins celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Women’s Rugby in the US. The formal attire is custom fit and supplied to the team for official events and functions while in New Zealand, the team will also wear the apparel during the official Rugby World Cup sendoff party hosted in Los Angeles. Joined by friends, family, donors and special guests, all players and staff will be celebrated and wished good luck as they depart the evening of Friday, September 23. Partnered with the XV Foundation for this incredible donation, the US Women’s Rugby Foundation are excited to support the USA Women’s National Team as they embrace the full experience and tradition of competing on the world’s biggest stage.

“The US Women’s Rugby Foundation is proud to support the USA Women’s Eagles as they head to the Rugby World Cup. We’ve supported the Women’s National Team throughout our seventeen-year history, with this as the largest donation that USWRF has made to a Rugby World Cup Squad. Directed donations from our supporters and members have made this possible. Our Board (including two former Eagles) will cheer the squad on both on the ground in New Zealand and from afar,” said Danita Knox, Board Chair and President of the US Women’s Rugby Foundation.

Outfitted with button down shirts, dress pants and shoes, “#1s” as the outfit is commonly referred to, will be worn for formal occasions during the tournament, ahead of the Castore team kit that has also been custom designed for the Rugby World Cup.

USA Rugby CEO, Ross Young added, “A sincere thank you goes out to the US Women’s Rugby Foundation for their donation and support of the team in this special way. The Rugby World Cup is an extraordinary occasion and achievement for the players, and a memorable experience thanks to the generosity of so many donors and contributors over the last year. With many of those individuals joining the squad in Los Angeles, we’re excited to celebrate them alongside the team."
